Representative Season Wrap‑Up

The 2026 ISA Representative Boys Basketball season has come to a close, marking another strong year of commitment, growth and pride for our Association. With a high level of interest at trials, competitive fixtures against fellow school sports associations and students representing ISA with distinction, the season highlighted the depth of basketball talent across ISA schools.

In the Opens, 38 students were nominated, and In the 16 Years & Under age group, 32 students were nominated by schools. ISA Selecting 2 Opens teams to compete against AICES, AAGPS and CAS, and a group of 10 students from the 16 Years & Under age group to attend NSWCIS Trials.

The selection process was overseen by a combination of experienced school‑based selectors and an independent selector, with trials beginning in a combined warm‑up session led by the Opens coach. Several high‑performing 16s athletes were also given the opportunity to trial with the Open squad, reflecting the strong skill level emerging in the younger age group.

Representative Fixtures

ISA teams competed in three representative fixture rounds, all hosted at high-quality venues and showcasing exciting, competitive basketball.

12 March 2026 – ISA vs AICES (Oakhill College)

  • ISA First V narrowly defeated: 88–86
  • ISA Second V strong win: 75–51

19 March 2026 – ISA vs GPS (Oakhill College)

  • ISA First V defeated: 70–58
  • ISA Second V defeated: 78–55

25 March 2026 – ISA vs CAS (Knox Grammar School)

  • ISA First V defeated: 95–77
  • ISA Second V defeated: 73–60

While results did not always fall ISA’s way, the quality of performance and competitiveness of both teams stood out. The First V, in particular, showed significant improvement in composure and tactical response, especially against GPS opposition.

A special thank you must be extended to Lauren Dalton and Jake Fisher, whose preparation, game awareness and adaptability lifted the ISA program to a new level. Their positive and encouraging approach allowed players to grow in confidence and enjoy a rewarding representative experience.

The season would not have been possible without the dedicated support of managers Greg Gower and Grant Levy, who ensured the smooth running of all fixtures, travel and preparation.

The 2026 ISA Representative Boys Basketball season highlighted the depth of talent across our schools and the strong culture of sportsmanship within the Association. Congratulations to all players who trialled, represented ISA, and supported their teammates throughout the program.

We look forward to building on this experience and continuing to grow ISA basketball in the years ahead.

Champion School Play‑Off

As ISA Division 1 Champions, St Augustine’s College progressed to the Champion School Play‑Off, facing Waverley College on 29 April 2026 – a fitting conclusion to a competitive school basketball season.
