The School Sport Australia pathway is committed to nurturing the next generation of skilled and confident Student Officials.

Student Officials aged 15&O (turning 15 or older in the Year of Competition) are eligible for nomination, with all candidates required to hold relevant officiating qualifications and experience. All nominations are school‑based, with students from ISA Member Schools put forward directly to CIS by their school.

To ensure consistency and excellence, nominated students must attend the respective sports CIS Event, where their officiating skills will be assessed. Schools may contact CIS prior to the close of nominations if they wish to seek consideration for a student of exceptional officiating standard who does not meet the age eligibility criteria.

In many sports, the pathway to School Sport Australia representation begins at the Primary level, making early engagement and development particularly valuable. By empowering students to take on officiating roles, we help build confidence, resilience, and a deeper understanding of fair play – qualities that enrich both school communities and the broader sporting landscape.
