2026 ISA Carnival – Cross Country

October 6, 2026

The ISA cross country community came together for another memorable season in 2026, highlighted by record participation numbers, the successful integration of new member schools, and exceptional performances at both the ISA and NSWCIS levels. The annual carnival once again showcased the determination, resilience and sportsmanship that continue to define cross country competition across the association.

With 850+ competitors from 19 schools, the event marked a significant milestone, with The Cranbrook School, Kinross Wolaroi School and Scots All Saints College participating in the ISA Cross Country Carnival for the first time. The addition of these schools contributed to the largest field in recent years and reflected the continued growth of cross country within the ISA

Champion Schools

Competition across all age groups was strong, with schools battling for team shield success throughout the day.

In the girls’ competition, Barker College proved to be a strong force, securing the Junior, Intermediate and Overall Shields, while Redlands claimed the Senior Girls Shield. On the boys’ side, Oakhill College produced an exceptional team performance, winning the Junior, Intermediate, Senior and Overall Shields.

NSWCIS Championships

Following the carnival, 167 ISA athletes were nominated to represent the association at the NSWCIS Cross Country Championships.

The ISA team produced an outstanding display against some of the strongest school-aged distance runners in New South Wales. A total of 21 athletes finished inside the top 10 of their respective races, earning selection in the NSWCIS Team to compete at the NSW All Schools Cross Country Championships.

NSW All Schools Championships

The success of ISA athletes continued at the NSW All Schools Cross Country Championships, where all 21 selected runners proudly represented the association against the state’s best competitors.

The teams achievements culminated in further representative honours, with both L. Chetcuti and A. Eason selected in the NSW All Schools Team to compete at the School Sport Australia Championships.

The ISA extends its congratulations to all participating athletes, schools, coaches and support staff whose contribution helped make the 2026 season such a success. Special thanks are also extended to event officials, volunteers, team managers and organisers, whose efforts were instrumental in the delivery of both the ISA Carnival and representative programs.

As the cross country season concludes, the ISA community can take great pride in another year of outstanding achievement, with athletes continuing to represent their schools and the association with distinction at every level of competition.
